CzechToll completed the production of 450 thousand on-board units in advance and started the final phase of the new toll system preparation

Prague, 10 September 2019 – CzechToll completed the production of 450 thousand on-board units 12 weeks earlier than required by the timeline for building the new toll system. It has also commenced the distribution of new OBUs to Points of Sale, where hauliers will be able to pick them up as a part of registration as of 22 September 2019. Test vehicles have driven on toll roads with the new units for over 1 million kilometres.

CzechToll has successfully completed individual toll system tests. During the tests, which lasted for 6 weeks, neither CzechToll nor the Road and Motorway Directorate of the Czech Republic identified any deficiencies with the functionality, stability or safety of the new toll system. Based on the results of individual tests, the Road and Motorway Directorate of the Czech Republic granted CzechToll the approval to commence another milestone in the performance of the contract, the so-called complex testing of the electronic toll system.

“During the individual tests, the software and technology readiness was checked. Comprehensive tests represent real testing of the system in operation, with real staff who will in the future participate in the normal operation of the toll system, “ said Matej Okáli, the CEO of CzechToll.

Since the launch of the initial information campaign in the second half of August, 18,000 real users have visited the new website www.mytocz.eu. According to the first experience, the interest in information about the new toll system in case of smaller hauliers from the Czech Republic and abroad is still lagging behind. “While large companies inquire about the new obligations and are actively preparing for the transition to the new toll system, smaller hauliers do not yet deal with the preparations for meeting their obligations,” noted Matej Okáli.

Hauliers are obliged to register in the new electronic toll system and to equip the vehicles with the on-board unit no later than on the start date, i.e. 1 December 2019. From 22 September 2019, they can meet the obligation to register at more than 200 Points of Sale at selected branches of the Czech Chamber of Commerce, through Fleet Card Issuers or online at www.mytocz.eu. Complete information about the new toll system can be obtained from the hauliers on the website www.mytocz.eu or on the customer service line +421 243 243 243, which operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
