Despite the fewer working days in May, toll collection was on a slight upward trajectory and 46% of the toll collected was paid by domestic carriers

Prague, June 22, 2026 – Operators of vehicles with a maximum permitted weight exceeding 3.5 tons paid a whopping 1.68 billion Czech crowns in tolls in May. Toll collection increased by 2% although this May was one working day shorter compared to 2025.

Of the total amount of toll collected in May, altogether 46% was paid by the operators of vehicles registered in the Czech Republic. In May, CzechToll processed more than 101 million toll transactions, which is practically the same as last year. The stable number of transactions shows that the year-on-year growth in toll collection was not caused by higher traffic intensity, but primarily by the rates.

Revenue from electronic toll collection has reached 8.3 billion crowns since the beginning of the year, i.e. a year-on-year increase of 5 %. The growth rate of revenue from electronic toll collection thus remains stable even after an exceptionally strong start to the year.

At the end of May, altogether 834 thousand vehicles with a maximum permitted weight exceeding 3.5 tons were registered in the electronic toll system, of which 185 thousand carried Czech registration plates. CzechToll has so far issued 543 thousand on-board toll collection units to carriers.
