PRESS RELEASE      31. 10. 2019

Five weeks before the start of the new toll system 27% of the expected 458,000 cars are registered

Prague, 30 October 2019 – In five weeks, hauliers registered 122,000 vehicles in the new toll system. This is approximately 27% of the vehicles that are obliged to register and secure a new on-board unit. Given the lack of interest on the part of hauliers to meet their obligation, the new toll system operator strengthened the information campaign in the Czech Republic and Poland – countries where the largest number of vehicles remains to be registered.

While larger hauliers have already registered 71% of the expected number of vehicles (specifically 109,000) under the post-pay toll mode, small hauliers have registered only less than 5% of vehicles (13,000). In terms of the number of registrations required, most vehicles that remain to be registered are from Poland (94,000), the Czech Republic (70,000) and Romania (28,000).

As part of the information campaign to launch the new toll system, CzechToll has contacted each haulier that operates more than 10 lorries by phone in the first month of the registration period, distributed a total of 230,000 information materials, sent 110,000 information letters by post and 60,000 by address e-mail. CzechToll is disseminating the necessary registration information with the help of industry organisations and over than seven million Internet users from the relevant target group have seen haulier-targeted online advertising.

In case of online registration, the haulier will receive a new on-board unit upon payment of the refundable deposit by post (free shipping applies to shipments within the Czech Republic, to Germany, Austria, Poland and Slovakia).
