In April, carriers paid the total amount of 1.181 billion Czech crowns for using toll roads

Prague, 12 May 2021 – In line with expectations, CzechToll recorded a significant 58-percent year-on-year increase in tolls in April. The reason for the sharp growth is the strict measures in the fight against coronavirus in April 2020, when large industrial enterprises were closed and at the same time carriers faced complicated crossing of the border. Compared to March this year, the fourth month brought a slight decrease in traffic intensity, when collected tolls fell by 8 percent month-on-month.

While selected tolls increased by 58 percent year-on-year, the number of toll transactions on toll roads increased by less than 35 percent. The growth of selected tolls is thus partly due to a change in the structure of toll rates at the beginning of this year.

In total, the electronic toll system processed almost 88 million toll transactions in April. Over 575,000 vehicles were registered in it. Currently, around 487 thousand on-board units are in circulation, of which less than a third is used by domestic vehicles.
