Number of vehicles registered in CzechToll’s electronic toll system exceeded 900 thousand

Prague, 25 June 2025 – Operators of vehicles weighing over 3.5 tons paid tolls totalling 1.647 billion Czech crowns for driving on toll roads in May. Year-on-year, toll collection thus increased by 9.7% with the same number of working days. CzechToll processed more than 102 million toll transactions in the fifth month of this year.

Since the start of the year, revenues from toll collection have exceeded 7.9 billion crowns. 89% of the collected tolls were paid by carriers for driving on domestic motorways; the remaining 11% comes from toll revenues from toll sections of 1st category roads.

“The number of vehicles registered in the electronic toll system in the Czech Republic exceeded 900,000 at the turn of May and June. Eight out of ten registered vehicles had foreign license plates. “Foreign carriers are contributing 54 percent to toll collection this year,” noted Petr Chvátal, CzechToll CEO. Revenues from toll collection are an income of the State Transport Infrastructure Fund and help finance transport construction projects in the Czech Republic.

At the end of May, 902 thousand vehicles weighing over 3.5 tons were registered in the electronic toll system, of which over 719 thousand vehicles had foreign license plate numbers. For the registered vehicles CzechToll issued 663 thousand on-board units to carriers.
