Prague, January 21, 2026 – Operators of vehicles with a maximum permitted weight exceeding 3.5 tons paid a whopping 19.1 billion crowns in tolls in 2025. The year-on-year growth exceeded 11%. Toll revenue is credited to the State Transport Infrastructure Fund and it helps to finance the costly development of transport infrastructure in the Czech Republic.
In addition to the changes in toll rates, the growth in toll revenue was also affected by the expansion of the national highway network. Domestic carriers contributed 47% of the toll collected, while foreign carriers paid the remaining 53%. The toll collected for the use of highways accounted for 89% of total revenue.
The toll rates in the Czech Republic have had four components since March 2024. The road use fee accounts for almost 77% of the revenue, followed by the CO2 emissions fee (19%). The fee for external costs due to air pollution from traffic amounts to approximately 3%, and the fee for external costs due to traffic noise contributes with the remaining 1% of the total revenue.

In December 2025 alone, carriers paid 1.349 billion crowns in toll, which translates to a 15.8% year-on-year increase. The CzechToll system processed almost 84 million toll transactions in December, i.e. an increase of almost 9%. In both cases, the strong growth was also influenced by the higher number of working days in December 2025 (+1).
At the end of 2025, altogether 886 thousand vehicles with a maximum permitted weight exceeding 3.5 tons were registered in the electronic toll system, of which 700 thousand carried foreign registration plates. CzechToll distributed 610 thousand on-board units to the carriers for their registered vehicles.
