Toll collection in the first half of this year exceeded 10 billion Czech crowns and grew by 5.7% year-on-year

Prague, July 22, 2026 – A total of CZK 10.07 billion was collected in toll fees on motorways and tolled sections of Class I roads in the first half of this year, which is a year-on-year increase of 5.7%. More than half (54%) of the total amount collected since the beginning of the year was paid by foreign carriers. A total of 88 percent of the toll collected was charged to carriers for the use of highways.

“Traditionally, CzechToll recorded the highest number of trucks on the D1 Highway between the Modletice and Doubravice exit. In the first half of this year, approximately 1.5 million trucks drove through this section in each direction. The second busiest section was the D1 Highway in the vicinity of Brno between the Brno-Center and Brno-South exit where the system recorded almost 1.4 million trucks in each direction. The connecting section of the D1 Highway between Modletice and Mirošovice and the Prague D0 Ring Road between Ořech and Jinočany have also long been among the busiest sections of the highway network,” said Petr Chvátal, CEO of CzechToll.

On Class I roads, the I/52 section in the vicinity of Brno between Modřice and Rajhrad was the busiest toll road in the first half of this year. The CzechToll system recorded approximately 590 to 700 thousand trucks on the individual connecting sections in each direction. The sections of the I/35 road in the vicinity of Vysoké Mýto followed with a significant gap with almost 387 thousand trucks in each direction during the first six months of this year.

In June alone, carriers paid almost 1.78 billion crowns in toll. The year-on-year growth exceeded 9% partly due to the higher number of working days this year. CzechToll processed more than 108 million toll transactions, i.e. 6% more than in June 2025, within the toll collection process. In June, CzechToll recorded at least one toll transaction per vehicle for 325,000 vehicles.

At the end of June, altogether 825 thousand vehicles with a maximum permitted weight exceeding 3.5 tons were registered in the electronic toll system, of which 186 thousand carried Czech registration plates. As of the end of June, CzechToll has issued 537 thousand on-board toll collection units to carriers.
